Every time I read the Bible I discover that some versus do have a strong appeal. At least on me. Herewith a growing list containing one verse out of each of the Bible books.
Song of songs
Daniel: “The moment you began praying, a command was given. And now I am here to tell you what it was, for you are very precious to God” (9:23, New Living Translation).
Hosea: “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you” (10:12, King James Bible).
Joel: “That is why the LORD says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the LORD your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish. Who knows? Perhaps he will give you a reprieve, sending you a blessing instead of this curse.” (2:12-14, New Living Translation).
Amos “He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind” (4:13, New International Version (NIV)).
Obadiah “This is what the sovereign Lord says..” (1:1; New International Version)
Jonah “I am a servant of the Lord; and I worship the Lord God of heaven, who made the sea, and the dry land” (1:9; Brenton Septuagint Translation)
Micah “He will teach us about His ways and we will walk according to His directions” (2:4 International Standaard Version)
Habbakuk “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it testifies about the end and will not lie. Though it delays, wait for it, since it will certainly come and not be late. ” (2:3, Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Zephaniah: “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” (3:17, English Standard Version)
